If you are reciting the specific details, why stop there? Enter VCCS and don't get the required transfer GPA and you won't be admitted to UVA (or other Virginia universities).

My son did this for another school. They way his school does it is each college makes a decision and some colleges are more competitive (engineering, nursing and business). He has accepted that he likely won't be a finance bro. He is realistic that he can only transfer to certain majors.

Other son used a back door to a Southern flagship. Kids at his school were surprised when he got in. He had good grades but rigor was just ok. So, kids didn't know that his UW GPA was actually kind of high.

Playing around on the college confidential forum can help with you find a back door.

Was it education or something else?

No. Extremely hard. It is a very small program with a very high yield rate. And you have to write a supplement .

No. Extremely hard. It is a very small program with a very high yield rate. And you have to write a supplement .

I would hope that writing a nursing supplement would be a piece of cake for someone who wants to be a nurse.

At UVa, Architecture, Engineering, and Nursing are all harder admits than Arts & Sciences. All 3 are much smaller than A&S.

Kinesiology is in the Education school. No idea how easy or hard to get admitted to that.

NP here. So, if you want to do engineering, the Wise option is not open to you? My daughter was just deferred EA so just wondering. If one is interested in engineering, is NOVA + transfer the only back door option for you?

The BSN Nursing program admits only 75 freshmen a year. It’s tiny.

You can transfer from any school. It does not have to be CC or Wise. Me kid transferred from another (way lower ranked) 4 year college after freshman year. Had great GPA (all As except an A- in a calc class and had a schedule with no fluff classes), also had very good ECs (including an internship during freshman year while maintaining great grades). Was OOS and went test optional for the transfer. Never would have gotten in OOS straight from HS.

Transferring is hard, though. The adjustment can be really tough. My kid loves UVA and dos not regret it for a minute.
