Best Documentaries

The first 20 minutes of "2000 Meters to Andriivka" are probably the most stressful and tense 20 minutes to ever be put on film. It's on YouTube. Not exactly a relaxing documentary, but it's absolutely riveting.

Dear Zachary - I could watch it once. Bring tissues. Only watch if you need an ugly cry.

I don't think any other documentary can compare to Dear Zachary. But yeah, you have to emotionally prepare yourself. It's gut-wrenching.

Really? I watched the first half and it's so poorly made I'm not sure I can watch the rest.

I was looking forward to this doc because the 99% Invisible episode was really good. Agree that this doc was disappointing and I turned it off.

But listen to the 99% invisible podcast, that is really good.

The documentaries “Sweet Bobby” and “Hey Beautiful” were absolutely riveting to me, particularly in the way they turned out.

No way did I ever predict those endings

More recently and in different veins, I really liked the documentary on the Judds, and Laurel Canyon has always been one of my favorites. See also Echo in the Canyon. What a special time and place to have been around.

Into the Fire: Lost Daughter is the best documentary I’ve seen in a long time. The story has a major twist, and the biological mother is amazingly tenacious.
