My family didn't. I don't. I take my kids to the beach for three days max in driving distance. I don't get on a plane, I don't take a week off, etc. I don't find it enjoyable and think it is a waste of money. I went to Europe for short term study abroad--I did not think it was worth it. I really don't like being out of my routine and I don't like spending money. I have not really been much of anywhere since 2009. Before that very rare. I only travel sometimes for work. When I retire, I won't get on a plane again.

Balenciaga Rodeo size medium
Fendi peekaboo size small
Ferragamo hug bag
Celine nino
Gucci Aura
Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 in pink monogram

You know bags! Can you suggest an everyday bag for me, a tote or shoulder bag? One that's not too obviously branded? At a lower price point bc I can't justify buying a designer bag right now.

I like the Coach Gramercy tote which appears to have been discontinued, and the Coach Brooklyn is very popular. Look at DeMillier, RSVP Batman, Tory Burch Romy.

Just coming back to say thank you! And also wondering, do you think woven bags will continue to be in? I've been wanting a dragon diffusion. What do you think of the Madewell version of the woven tote?

I bought myself diamond studs for my 50th last fall.

Op has those so other items I considered or acquired in the last 5 years:
Cocktail ring with a nice stone (I got an emerald)
Mulberry bayswater handbag
Burberry trench
Longines record watch

DH and my 50th will be a month apart, and around the time dc graduates from high school. We plan on taking a really nice family trip and splurge a little on things we wouldn't normally.

I might also get myself something for my hobby-maybe a new lens for my camera (pp inspired me

I like Madewell’s essential bucket tote a lot. Claire V. if you want woven and don’t want to spring for BV.

Instead of buying a designer purse for thousands of dollars, I would buy a plane ticket to Rome and buy a purse and leather jacket — all of which will be cheaper than some of the purses suggested here. And I’d get myself a great slice of birthday cake at a pastry shop.

I’m also celebrating my 50th this year and here’s what I’m getting myself:

Taking the day off work for a massage and visit to art museum
Nice ski weekend
Chloe Marcie bag

Totally agree. OP, taker yourself shopping somewhere in Europe and buy midrange European brands. Much cooler than having a bag that costs 5k. Rome is a great choice but I'd also suggest-

Barcelona
Madrid
Paris
Copenhagen
London
Berlin
