50th birthday gift to self - ideas

What's your budget, OP? I'll focus on bags and jewelry since you mentioned wanting a special "item."

Bags: Bottega Andiamo, Loewe Madrid/Flamenco, Chanel classic flap - all 3-4 are in but not trendy. They're all beautiful and would last you forever.

Jewelry:
- Tiffany sixteen stone ring (to wear on your right hand or stack with your wedding band)

- Cartier Ballon Bleu watch (not as trendy as the Panthere watch but less likely to date. The guilloche dial would compliment your existing diamond jewelry)

- Van Cleef alhambra bracelet in your favorite color/stone (this would fill a gap in your collection since you don't currently have a nice bracelet. These are very popular but still classic, especially if you go for mother of pearl or onyx)

Balenciaga Rodeo size medium
Fendi peekaboo size small
Ferragamo hug bag
Celine nino
Gucci Aura
Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 in pink monogram

You know bags! Can you suggest an everyday bag for me, a tote or shoulder bag? One that's not too obviously branded? At a lower price point bc I can't justify buying a designer bag right now.

I like the Coach Gramercy tote which appears to have been discontinued, and the Coach Brooklyn is very popular. Look at DeMillier, RSVP Batman, Tory Burch Romy.

This is my experience with both of those stores in terms of customer service, too, but they are also very different styles.

Another transitional year, I set aside a chunk of money — I think it was $3000. My idea was that when something special that I wanted to do popped up — I’d already have the “extra” funds available for it. So, be it travel, an extravagant purchase, a new interest — I’d be set whenever the desire hit. Several months later, I ended up taking music lessons, which became a life-changing experience. The money I’d set aside covered about a year of lessons, access to an instrument, and everything that I needed to support my new hobby.

This is cool. I am getting close to a milestone and you just made me think of new skis (for a new type of skiing so I'll need to set aside lesson money too).

OP here. Thank you all so much- so many great ideas on here (I never would have thought of an upper bleph in this category, but I really could use one). I would love love a Chanel flap bag, but I’m not sure I can justify it (they are over $10k, right?) since I tend to switch out bag styles based on the season and what colors I’m wearing.

I may do as a PP suggested and set aside a chunk of money and when I feel more confident in what I want (object, experience, whatever), I can buy it for myself.

Thanks again, there are terrific ideas on here.

NP. I plan to buy a car. I personally can’t imagine jewelry or bags. I have never understood those. I don’t vacation (and did not when I was married either).
