Yes, we are waiting on St. B and not planning on sending him to boarding school. It would be helpful to know what type of boys thrive at Collegiate vs. St. B. |
Did you FC one of them? What was your feedback? Curious for next years cycle |
|
Collegiate alumnus here. St B would regularly feed kids into our Upper School and they all adjusted and fit in quite well. Generally remember them as intellectually sharp, witty, worldly.
Obviously a limited data point from a long time ago. Very broad question though -- some of the boys that didn't thrive as much at Collegiate I am in touch with and are thriving today and look back upon their school years fondly. Development is non-linear. |
I think this is far from a consensus take |
Slightly notch below, academically |
fwiw have heard of St Bs "counseling out" boys that weren't a fit, or they didn't feel would get into a top HS. Not sure if this happens at C |
Is AS higher or lower, academically? We’re considering these 2 |
AS is higher for sure |
[you're being trolled] |
I have heard from a few sources that it's St. David's then Buckley then Allen Stevenson. I've heard Saint David's and Buckley are close, but Buckley puts far more emphasis on athletics. This aligned with what we saw in person as well. |
I agree. If your sole concern is academics, then Saint David's. If sports are also important to you, then Buckley. AS is a step below either academically, but is the most progressive of the three and most tolerant of "active" boys, if that matters to you. |
Does St David’s have better emissions than AS and Buckley? |
my impression is that Buckley has very strong exmissions. |
Most of the K-8 schools just provide lists of schools their boys attend with "greatest frequency." A couple years ago, I got ahold of Saint David's actual numbers over a five year period and they were quite good. Over half of boys went to TT NYC day schools and TT boarding schools. There was a lot of Regis in this (28 boys in five years), which I consider a positive, as you can't count on legacy to get you in. Then about 15% of boys went to other religious schools. Many of which, I assume by choice. I feel this is not as good as St. B's, but am not completely sure how this compares to Buckley/AS. I suspect favorably. |
What about the other two? The issue is none of them post the numbers of how many go to which HS so it’s hard to compare. Where does a median student at them go? 75th percentile, 25th percentile? |
