I'm not a GUEST at a restaurant. I'm a paying customer. I'm a guest in someone's home. I don't need to spend five minutes having someone explain how all the steak is in this section of the menu and right below it where it says you can add on a lobster tail? Yes, you can add on a lobster tail. Thanks, but I can read all of this in 30 seconds, and I'd rather spend the time with the person/people I'm dining with.

Did you read the OP? Do you not understand what a pet peeve is? I'm capable of sitting there smiling and making eye contact and do it. I just wish I didn't have to. I'm saying the idea of explaining a straight forward menu to people is ridiculous and I hate it. Not that I refuse.

Yeah, but the waiter/ress/hostess are dealing with 21st century customers with a 20th century service style. people like OP don't crave for that level of service as others wish they could receive when dealing with people in offices, medical settings and other places.

+1. I don’t mind it at all. The nicer restaurants do it. I like hearing what they are proud of. Going through life trying to find things that annoy you and posting her for affirmation is not healthy.

There seem to be a lot of folks on this thread, who cannot handle 60 seconds worth of niceties. There is something wrong with every one of them, and they need to stay home.

Actually, using an app to order can be really convenient. You can order courses when you want. If you’re with a number of people, it makes splitting the check way easier (and if some parties order more or less, it removes any hassle of who owes what). For Bartaco, they do orders by app but if you prefer to order in person, they can do that too.
