Wuthering Heights

The R rating will be a big turn off; it’s gonna bomb.

It’s 2026.

Every tween has a phone that delivers R/X rated content on demand.

The R rating won’t be a factor in the success or failure of this movie.

I think the trailer looks good, and I say that as an older Gen X’er who hates the book and classic movie.

Tweens, teens, moms, and grannies who think Elordi is hot will show up for the film. Maybe the gays will too.

Agree - I feel like this has something for everyone. Jacob’s Oscar’s buzz will help as well. The world is cold and depressing and this seems like the perfect time for this kind of movie.

Wrong. It’s a revenue killer, and appeals to a much smaller audience than necessary, especially for a story like Wuthering Heights. It’s not a sex romp or a slasher movie.

Um, I think they are trying to make it a sexy romance, and a scantily clad Elordi will definitely attract an audience.

Have you watched the long trailer?

My 13 year old self would have shown up opening weekend for this movie. And Elordi’s fan girls span multiple generations. I think he can open a film…especially if people know he will be topless.

I mean, why do you think Top Gun threw in a volleyball scene and sex scene? Hint: to get girls to drag their boyfriends to see the movie.

Girls didn’t need to drag their boyfriends to see a movie about fighter jets.

Elordi is such a turn off. Maybe it’s his smug face? I guess if he wore a paper bag over his head during the shirtless scenes, it would be worth it, but even then I’m not so sure.

Some did.

And gaggles of girls went on their own—including tweens/teens.

Wuthering Heights is trying to appeal to girls through grannies by sexing up the film. The trailer makes that obvious.

+1. I’m a straight woman, and if I’m coming to see someone, it would be Margot Robbie, not Elordi.

I hated Wuthering Heights the movie so much no amount of sex will make me leave my house and spend money on a movie ticket for this. I’d rather stay home and watch Heated Rivalry. I also suspect the sex scenes are better in HR.

I meant Wuthering Heights the book.

Yeah, I don't know if this movie is going to go well but I suspect a sexed up version will sell better than a classic version. A classic version is more a miniseries on PBS kind of thing. It has it's place but it's likely not getting big movie funding.

This, they sell it appropriately and they might (emphasis on might) be able to make money. We'll see, I guess.

I just wanna see the moors. I wonder who was cast first? Robbie is tall too.

It’s Robbie‘s movie. She and her husband are producing it and calling all the shots. Netflix offered them 150 million for it, and they turned it down for 80 million instead because they wanted a theatrical release.

Looking forward to seeing it! I love Margot Robbie.
