OP probably means on her airline where she already purchased tickets there are no seats. It depends how bad you want to get home OP. You should have long ago gotten a refund from your airline for your cancellations though and now be a free agent able to jump on whatever works. So confused about that part. |
| You need to play airline arbitrage and buy a bunch of different, refundable tickets on different airlines to different airports (you said you were going to NY so I would try the 3 usual suspects). This is the only way. |
PP here, yes, I think that's right, OP probably has assumed just has to take whatever the original airline has rebooked them on. You actually have 2 options beyond that: 1. Search out other available routes on the same airline, call them or text/chat them and ask to be put on what you have found. This can fluctuate A LOT because there are often 1 or 2 seats available and then they get grabbed 10 minutes later while on hold. It's frustrating and you need to keep at it. But you are limited if you just stick with the original airline. 2. Go on the website and say you don't accept their suggested new itinerary and just want a refund instead. You may have to call or text/chat for this, but nowadays the systems are better and can usually be done on the website/app. Once you do that, Google Flights is your friend to find whatever you can on any airline or train or whatever. But you may pay more than your original ticket price, etc. |
| OP has provided no info about which airline or depature city in Florida. We can't help much without such info. |
With ice the whole way? I wouldn’t. |
Freeways are fine. |
That’s not really the right use of that phrase. It refers to a hardship that a naive person is unaware of. It does not refer to something being better than expected. |

I’m stuck in Florida too. My Monday flight was delayed several times then canceled. Get this, the airlines accidentally gave me voucher for a hotel room for one night. I waited at the airport for hours only to be told the agents are going home for the day so just call. I called this morning and after only three hours, got a flight for tomorrow. So we just booked another hotel and will pray the flight doesn’t get canceled. I called my supervisor and told him the situation and he said I can enter leave when I get back. Not fun but you have to roll with the punches.

No, it's the correct usage. It means someone who is naive or has never experienced hardship. OP has apparently never taken a bus. It's a hardship because it's not particularly comfortable or luxurious, but she is not in danger of being shanghaied by drug dealers. |
| OP, which city and airport? |
| If you're near Orlando, taking a train is a good idea. |
| I travel a lot. I use the wiki page for the airport I’m departing and click on airlines/destinations. It’s really accurate with the airlines and destinations and you can then look at the airline websites for tickets. A friend just shared this tip and it has opened up some creative options you can’t see on the airline apps. |
You are telling her it’s going to be less bad than she thinks. Not how it was originally used. |
| Even Midwest flights are impacted because of staffing. Tried leaving rsw for ORD and although we made it, was two hours late. Missed connection, got another and Uber’d home a 70 mile trip. |
Yes, this is what DH did. He had to back from LAX to DC. He was originally scheduled to arrive at DCA at 9am on Sunday via CLT. He ended up flying to Chicago, spending a night, and getting here Monday afternoon into DCA by doing this. |
