Snow plowing in residential areas

Of course you have dealt with this - plows don't skip the stretches of road in front of driveways when they plow the roads, that's absurd. They always plow and they always leave a wall of snow between the driveway and the road. The only difference is that this time around the temperatures are colder so it's frozen. My 59yo DH cleared ours in about 15 minutes yesterday AM - if he'd waited till midday it probably would have been even quicker.

Because the 'snow' has turned into a literal iceberg.

If they do it right, they actually make it a smoother path for you to get out of your driveway. We all have to dig out from the wall they create. 65 yo woman with bad knees here. I dug my wall of snow out myself.

+2 Montgomery County is the worst. I do not even believe their so-called snow map anymore which says 80% of my area has been plowed. Too many people showing up on next door saying they haven't been plowed.

Montgomery county residents are notorious for complaining. County has plowed and have updates in stages of how much they have cleared. As of now, they are about 80% done with clearing. Yet side streets haven't seen a plow since the initial pass-through Sunday or Monday.

We never had even one pass through.

Don't' expect the county to show up til Friday. 30 years of history.

There is no way the 87% number on the county website is correct.

My neighbors already dug out our street enough to get one lane of cars out. They do this every year. I just bring out cookies and hot chocolate and watch LOL. This time with the ice it was crazy heavy and yet they did their thing. Love my neighbors.

I'm sorry, OP. I wanted to take a crack at the wall this morning and ended up with palpitations. It sucks.

We haven’t seen a plow yet period. Supposedly by 9pm tonight.

I may dump copious amounts of water/rubbing alcohol/dish soap on my iceberg piles

Omg what do you people want?

If they dont plow so they dont wall you in, then you clowns would complain about the roads not being plowed. When they do plow, now you complain about the wall of snow.

Get over it. They obviously cannot plow every single house out. Deal with it. You should have been outside immediately shoveling out after they plowed in order to move the snow before it turned into a block of ice. Blame yourselves for being lazy.

NP. I want a plow to clear my street, at least once (hasn’t happened yet). The driveway has been shoveled pretty much to the asphalt but it doesn’t do me any good since the neighborhood streets are an ice rink.

The county says 90% done I don't believe it.

If you are in Virginia, I highly recommend filling out a form on the website to report a road hazard, or call. I did around noon and by 2 pm, we had 2 heavy VDOT trucks (not the contracted smaller plows) doing multiple passes on our street.

No plow here yet at all. We are on what MoCo designates as a "primary road" stage 4 and nothing has gone by. It is now 48 hours after the snow/ice stopped. Zero press conferences from Elrich, barely any updates from the county other than the tracker. County Council members sending back form emails. This is the highest taxed county in the state and it is an abomination of mismanagement. And before you say "whiny" etc - it's a very hilly neighborhood that there is no way to get to main roads from - full of seniors who need to get food/caregivers to their homes etc. Failed state. Probablem is 50 years of single party rule fails no matter the party.

Mcps is closed. There was no way it was going to be open this week when streets haven't seen plows.

Don't be so sure, it went by when you were snoring.
