| Any update? What happened to the vote today? |
As of right now, the Senate is not expected to take the first procedural vote until Thursday. That will need 60 votes to start the process of passing the combined spending bills. There will not be 60 votes for this. What happens after that we still don't know. |
Republicans want to go on vacation again on your tax dollars. |
What happens is that vote will certainly fail and we shut down. They can’t modify the bill without the House and meanwhile the House is already saying it won’t take up a separate DHS bill. |
| Hope the gov is shut down for 40 days again. |
+1 Maybe then people will realize the federal government is useless and all powers should be transferred to the states where they belong. |
Yes, I would be happy if DHS being shut down meant people will realize it needs to be disbanded as a federal entity. But something tells me you won’t be happy if it’s up to the states to enforce immigration laws. |
Ha ha sure. |
Or maybe we just let people in, the way the Pilgrims just came in. |
| Fingers crossed for a shutdown but I doubt it - I'm sure the Dems will cave. |
| Is HHS funded? |
I’m not sure anything has been funded. The House voted, but the senate bundled the bills and hasn’t voted yet. |
No. A previous PP linked to the one funding bill that has been passed by Congress and signed, and that one covers DOJ, Ag, EPA, others. I believe HHS is one of the bills passed by the House but awaiting Senate vote. |
| The senate is just going to pass everything because they have no power and will just go along with whatever the House tells them to do. |
They don’t have enough votes to pass everything. They need Dems to vote with the Rs and they already said no on this one. |
