I wonder what it is about humans that they will flock to any new metaphysical invention no matter how stupid. Truly extraordinary.

Like for every religion, there are fringe movements in paganism that are a disturbing. The potion-making set with use of very questionable ingredients that have no efficacy recognized by any medical research, and the animal sacrifices during rituals. But the immense majority of Pagans DO NOT DO THAT.

Do realize that both Judaism and Christianity practiced animal sacrifices. What do you think they were sacrificing in the temple before its destruction? What is the very essence of Christianity - god sacrificed an animal (Jesus).

Jesus sacrificed himself for his followers to cleanse their sins. Big difference to ritual burning of goats and pigeons.

People flock to just about anything that looks promising, not just any new metaphysical invention.

It's not that kind of witchcraft. Like, it's not related to Satan (which is a Christian idea) or evil. It's just a lot of spirituality and somewhat cringey female empowerment mixed with environmentalism.

Think crystals and yoga. That kind of thing.

Womens rights are getting screwed over by evangelical churches. Now we will start to cast spells and curses on church men.

+1 I think people want to believe in higher power and that there is something out there. The new age harmless witchcraft gives people a community and an outlet for it, but it also isn’t rigid with rules.

And it's only for women, right?

I was a witch, and I understand the appeal. I am a Christian now. For anyone who’s interested, magic works and is very real - all power starts with the mind.
