Really? That’s interesting that the VHSL would approve transfers strictly for a kid to play a sport at a school. There was a problem when when they thought Hayfield did it. |
What was FCPS reason for allowing the two brothers from Loudoun County to transfer to Westfield? |
PP didn't say they transfered "strictly for a kid to play a sport." FCPS has a list of approved reasons for transfer. The athletes we know (we are not at Westfield) use the language option. Another has a parent who got a job here and then their kid transferred. VHSL has to approve all transfers after FCPS Approves them. That was the issue at Hayfield---VHSL saw a ton of red flags after FCPS approved. |
| Our school had a kid who had moved from New Zealand -leaving his parents behind!- just to play basketball here with and lived with what they called a "host family" like he was an exchange student..for several years. Then he left to go to private this year when our team was going to be bad. I was always really curious about that-what kind of visa is that? How was that approved by fcps? It just seemed so odd. |
I've got no dog in this fight but I'm just curious...how do you know who this is when you say "you love to drag Westfield in every thread"? Genuine question when everyone here is anonymous. |
NP-You can tell if you have been on here long enough when someone has sour grapes with a coach or team or school. They comment on it in every thread. Its pretty obvious. |
That South lakes team you are talking about had several kids that came there just to play basketball. They thought playing with a 5 star was going to be beneficial |
There was a problem when Hayfield built a good program. Now that we see other FCPS and VHSL teams doing the same thing, but people want to turn a blind eye. If Hayfield wasn’t allowed to do it, no school other should. |
Well the obvious difference would be whether a school was following the rules or not. We know Hayfield, hilariously and pathetically, did not and so they crashed and burned hard and now their former coach is basically a laughingstock who will never work in a real school again. |
| Westfield is certainly not following the rules. Heritage is not following the rules either. Don’t know much about the other schools to determine if they are legit or not. |
I don't think you should make accusations of cheating without evidence, Westfield Hater. |
No hate, but it is a violation for some of these kids to have transferred to Westfield specifically to play basketball. That’s a fact. It’s the same thing that happened at hayfield |
And there's no proof that happened. FCPS has a list of reasons that they will approve transfers for. They transferred under one of the approved reasons, or VHSL wouldn't have allowed it. |
Is it proof if you talk to a parent who is looking for a good basketball situation before they transfer to the school and then they end up transferring there? |
Talking to a parent who is exploring schools for a better basketball situation isn’t “proof” of anything on its own. Families are allowed to gather information. That doesn’t automatically mean a rule was broken. If a student transfers under one of the approved FCPS reasons and the transfer is reviewed and cleared by VHSL, then procedurally it met eligibility standards. VHSL looks specifically at athletic motivation when determining eligibility. There’s a difference between suspicion and evidence. Unless there’s documentation that rules were violated, it’s speculation. |
