They are too busy sending their $ to banks in...Europe or some island? |

The Senate us out until the 26th. They need a little break cause they've only been back in session two weeks since coming back from their Christmas Break.
Dems should adopt Harry Truman's mantra. "A Do 0Nothing Congress" particularly the House! |
| I mean, what do they even do these days? They apparently dont control appropriations, they dont control the war powers, they can't get their act together to pass legislation, people straight up ignore their subpoenas. Congress is basically decorative at this point. We live under the rule of a dictator and his oligarchs. |
Then we should get our tax refunded. We are paying for all 3 branches of government, not just one. |
Exactly this. And unfortunately it will be extremely difficult if not impossible to claw back the authority they once had. Even in we elect a Democratic POTUS, it will continue to be a unitary executive. |
Have been thinking about this. It’s clear that we need to improve the model. A first step would be term limits. The idea of randomly selecting citizens to serve (think this was done in Ancient Greece??) is also appealing but seems difficult to implement. And legislate away citizens united. |
| oddly enough they did stand up against the white house cuts to science. so they can have a backbone. it is just saving democracy doesn't seem to be something they care about. |
If we do not have fair midterm elections there will be soft secessions. But likely that means years of chaos. But maybe in 2 or 3 decades we won't be under the thumb (or inaction) of dozens of Senators who represent states smaller than LA County. |

Is it serious enough yet for Congress to exercise its constitutional duties?
Denmark has openly called for Congress to get a grip on Trump. |
| A few of them are giving speeches opposing the invasion of Greenland. Someone (Republicans) have to go to Trump and tell him that if he invades a NATO country, that will be the end of his presidency. https://apnews.com/article/congress-republicans-trump-greenland-denmark-28252fc0691a183f52d3c4a77369457b |
We've been calling on the do-nothing Congress to man up and put a stop to Trump's excesses. Just appalling. We are witnessing a historic breakdown of the three branches of government meant to provide checks and balances. |
| Beyond not trying to exercise their powers, it seems to me that many representatives and senators are hiding out from us. Schumer and Jeffries in particular are not exactly out interacting with constituents. They have power and most New Yorkers are angry and scared with what’s happening with ICE. They are nowhere to be found. |
This is true. But Thune and Johnson seem to be MIA. |
They should both be publicly and vociferously pushing for congressional action. |
| The GOP members of Congress are completely to blame for the situation we find ourselves in, at the whim of a demented and unhinged malignant narcissist and his merry band of corrupt and incompetent handlers and consiglieri. McConnell is especially culpable. After his first term and Jan 6, they should have had the balls and decency to make sure this POS never held public office again and they let it pass. Now he is off the rails and they won't step up and intervene, push back, or stand up for this country. They are the ones with the power in the short term to stop this madness and they refuse. F all of them. |
