When is it too late to buy a larger house for the sake of your kids?

We were in a 2 bed, 1 bath plus den 900sqf bungalow with three kids until we added a second story and finished the basement last year when kids were 15,13,10. I'd do it again in a heart beat, no matter how old they are. You will never not use the space and lord knows how long the kids will come home for after Christmas. It was hell in that tiny space.
