Ran across this really old thread in a search, hope this helps someone. Pillows have dust and mites, plus blocking neb vents is a bad idea.
There is an easy fix though, with just crafting techniques. You can cut sound/vibration in half or more cheaply and easily, people who use big compressors indoors do this all the time. Make a 'silencing box' for less than $10 in less than 10 minutes. Search youtube for 'silencing compressor' or follow these instructions-- Take a clean cardboard box about 4 inches larger than your neb on all sides and buy a sheet of 2 inch open-cell foam (upholstery or fabric stores, sold for making cushions), sheet should be big enough to cover box. Open the box, cut sections of foam to fit inside the bottom, sides and top, flat against the walls with a little bit of squeezing at the corners. Put neb in the box with foam to check fit, cut away foam as necessary. If neb sinks too deep into the foam 'floor' just cut a piece of cardboard as a support under it. Glue foam sections to inside of box and let dry, don't use a stinky glue, any hot glue or kid-safe school white glues are good, or just use duct tape. Turn on neb and put it in box with the tubing sticking out, close box top and weight it with a book or something. Running the neb inside the enclosure is quieter but will make it run hotter, I've found that a 5-10 minute treatment with hours of cooling down between works OK for mine. Cutting little holes in the foam and box for power cord and tubing is easy, just make them a tight fit to keep the noise inside. If you're ambitious add a small exhaust fan to keep the box's inside cooler and a power strip with a switch outside to turn the neb on and off without having to open the box. enjoy! from an asthmatic Maker in his 60s, still fixing stuff P.S. to the folks asking about clogging and slowing down, change your filters! If that doesn't help there's something wrong inside; duct collects inside some nebs, service folks can fix this if you're not able to take apart an unplugged neb yourself and clean it out. While it's open, check the inside hoses for leaks and their connections with pumps and such too, the little clips vibrate off at times. |

little kids - inhalers with mask - you need to pin them down, hold the mask tight for two three breaths each puff
inhalers, easier to use .... however, most of the meds ca be loaded at the stomach not lungs reaserch says... |

This thread is really old, but I must comment.
First, I have not found a quiet nebulizer machine. If there is one, I imagine it's fairly expensive. Second, being from a family of chronic asthma and copd sufferers.... Nebulizer works the best for us. It takes longer to administer, but it really gets down into your lungs properly. When I travel, I use a combivent inhaler. It has two kinds of medicines, that works very well. BUT, each inhaler costs nearly 400 bucks a pop! That is ridiculous! Shame on the pharmaceutical companies! Recently my insurance quit covering it. So I only use the nebulizer now. But everyone is different. |

| I see a lot of back forth on neb vs inhaler but nobody offered a suggestion for a quiet nedbulizer! |
| I th8nk they say the spacer is more efficient because you get the medicine into your lungs faster when done properly |

Nebulizer is more effective at getting the medicine to the lungs. FWIW, my 18 year old took ours to college "because it works better" than her rescue inhaler, which she uses on-the-go.
For noise control you can put child in a chair on one side of the door and run the tubes under the door to a loud nebulier on the other side. |
