Be honest, have you ever traded sexual favors for a job?

By the Chief of Staff to a member of Congress, who when I approached him about help finding a permanent position at the end of my internship suggested that we meet for drinks on a Friday night near his apartment.

By an EEOC appointee who stared down my shirt and suggested that he take me to dinner to discuss getting a job with the administration.

By a married attorney, 20 years my senior, who flat out suggested an affair while we were discussing my career.

Ah, D.C., you never change.

At the EEOC no less! It’s not funny but I can help but laugh a little.

This actually happens a LOT more than you’d think and especially in fed roles. Happened a number of times at my old agency years ago. Not me, but several female colleagues slept around and definitely got ahead. The were airheads, but next thing you know, all three are 15s.

I had an ex make an intro that got me an interview, and then I got the job. That kind of thing, where someone makes a connection on behalf of a friend or partner, seems much more typical than actual quid pro quo.

Agree that this is more prevalent among feds than in private sector. Feds have zero moral standards and most of them have very low IQ, so no surprise there. Two private sectors I can think of are big law firms and doctors.

I know female salespeople who traded sexual favors to get the company on a team as a subcontractor to a major prime contractor.

Or maybe she was just a slut. Or both happened.

Being a boss for a while at C-suite and did both. Had a female boss long time ago who would just want to receive and give oral and I obliged. promoted 3 times in 15 months. Now, I give plenty of opportunities to people around.

No and I was transferred to a much less desirable location because I wouldn't

IG report or GTFO.

Fed here, I never have but someone spread a rumor that I did. Untrue but almost impossible to address without making it worse.

For us older folk, such activity rampant several decades back. Not so much during the last 25 years or so with so much focus on curbing bad workplace behavior.

BS on the comment that it happens more in the Federal govmt. Maybe certain areas like Congress but not the others.

I worked private sector in the 90s and there was a lot of this going around. I was broached (at 19 and again at 22) but ignored or brushed off. I knew others who did and got promoted.

That's why I laugh when people look at C-suite and think these people are more moral, responsible, and above board than the rank and file. In my career, I have seen them involved with:
- booze
- bimbos
- blow
- embezzlement
- insider trading
- affairs

Probably happens with them more.because you have to be a risk taker to get those jobs and they have more assets to screw around.

No but I am a man sexually harassed by a woman who used to grab my butt in the office when nobody was looking. She was a Georgetown grad who looked like the Hollywood version of a young career woman.

No, wtf? Are you a whore OP?

No, because employers have needed me more than I needed them. I have been rehired 10 times by 4 different companies. I take long breaks as I don't need to work much.
I get employment offers while at work.
