Office/apprecation etiquette...would this bother you?

You gave really generous bonuses, and it’s sad no one thanked you. My firm started doing Christmas bonuses a few years ago and I sent an email to the chair of the firm to thank her and the partnership. She told me later that I was one of the only associates (out of 60+) who said thank you.

I gave $2000 to my main person and $500 to everyone else. NOT ONE text call or email to say thanks. I handed them out on Tuesday.I feel 100% sure they were opened. When I used to work for someone I always gave my boss a card with a box of candy or a bottle of champagne..something just because it felt right. I am good to these people in an industry that is hurting, they are all lucky to have the job they do. I am an easy boss, easy going and understanding, but this to me, really hurt me. Am I expecting too much?

If you really think this way, you have every hallmark of being a sh boss.

DP, but you have every hallmark of being an ungrateful sh!theel of an employee.

It's a business. Are the clients/customers supposed to be grateful that OP provides goods and services for a price?

Employees who get extra money should be grateful for getting extra money. Are you that dense?

I am aware of financial realities, social conventions, business transactions, and standard DCUM insults.

I completely disagree. We’ve faced double joblessness the past year and if one of us had a job, I’d be so grateful!

No you are not.
I would expect a thank you as well & think it is disgusting that none of these people bothered to thank you directly for your kindness.

I know I would definitely have. ❤️

Good for you PP!
Sad that the other 59 were not so appreciative!

When you personally handed them out did they say thank you then? While I would have followed up with a separate thank you, they may have felt like that was enough?
I like my boss a lot but don’t get him a gift.

I’m confused. You handed out boxes personally and no one even said thank you upon receiving them? Otherwise it’s possible they will still write a thank you card after the holidays.

I don't agree with this at all. The small business owner is struggling to keep things afloat to afford them their positions. Perhaps they don't realize the precarious nature of their jobs.

You sound very entitled in your original post. “They are lucky to have the job they do.” Ouch. Anyways, please never give a gift with an expectation of anything in return, not even words of gratitude. You said you handed them the money in a box of cookies? If it was me, it would still be sitting in my car. We are still within the holidays and things are chaotic. If it was not expected, then they may not know to look.

Every post of yours makes you sound like an ahole.
You have refused to answer if anyone thanked you in person or to acknowledge that they might send a note later which is perfectly acceptable.

You wanted graveling and adoration.
I don't think you have to worry about your precious bonuses next year because you probably won't have any employees.

Hopefully, they will send you a thank you note.

Ugh. People that only give gifts to get praised are so gross.
Anonymous
Did they not thank you when you gave them the gift?
