This is very high school dependent. There are a handful of boarding schools and NYC private schools where that doesn't matter. But for the other 99.9 percent of high school students, it's definitely an issue.
MIT, Princeton, Stanford, etc will never take more than 3-4 students from any school. And, of course, they generally take zero. But if they took two in the early round, I don't think Larlo, Maria, and Yaria have any chance at all.
