| The U.S. flag is a symbol of oppression! |
|
I fly an American flag in front of my house.
It’s flown upside down. But I fly it. |
|
We have an American flag. We live in a pretty liberal area and no one has ever said anything to me about it. Never had a negative “repercussion” (package not delivered, repairman refuse to come to the door, etc).
If someone assumed I’m MAGA due only to my flag, I feel like I wouldn’t want to know that person anyway. I’m trying to think of a scenario where that would happen. Maybe a parent comes to drop off their kid for a play date and refuses to let them come in due to the flag? A roofer comes to do a repair and refuses my money because I have an American flag? Honestly I would really care… |
| Plenty of people in our very liberal DC neighborhood fly American flags (including us sometimes). It’s not MAGA, it’s just the default flag. It’s on half the buildings in our country. It must be exhausting to live in some of you people’s minds! |
I would never say anything to you about it. I would just wonder things quietly to myself. |
| I think Dems need to recapture the American flag. Put one outside the house, especially around election time |
|
We used to fly the American flag to prove that even Democrats are proud of our country.
I gave up in January 2025 and haven't put it back up. |
| I've never been big on symbolic displays of nationalism. I find it silly to fly a giant flag outside of a private residence outside of national holidays. I always chuckle and say to myself that those people can't remember which country they live in and need a daily reminder. |
You might want to replace no trespassing with no hunting— in a lot of rural areas landowners are presumed to allow hunting on their land unless the land is posted to say no hunting. |
This. Exactly what I was thinking. Many Dems have been taking the flag back, but the no trespassing sign means you're a lunatic. Change to "private road." |
| I live in a heavily liberal suburb and there is an American flag on every other house, including houses where I know the owners are wildly anti-MAGA. For that reason, I do not make any assumptions about the flag flyer. In many cases, the houses have had flag holders on them from previous owners and the new homeowners continue to use the flag holder to fly the American flag. (I do wish people would replace the flags when they are worn and faded.) |
Another vote for this. Flag alone is fine. The combo is when I start to make assumptions. |
| I'd assume MAGA. I don't know how anyone of even a moderate conscience can display the flag these days. America is a state of shame right now. |
+1. We fly the flag on most flag holidays because I was raised in a military family with veterans as my parents and are proud Americans. DH and I are Democrats. |
Oh, for God's sake, please leave. And we are not MAGA but proudly have displayed the flag since our son made eagle scout. please educate yourself before posting. |
