There is still snow and it won't be busy.

I will never understand these posts. Skiing out west in December has been a risk for 30 years.

We are considering having our attorney draft a letter to request a refund because the place is advertised as ski-in, ski-out during a time when there is no snow, and not compensating for a non-ski-in, ski-out location.

When people are losing jobs left and right, are we supposed to feel sorry for you? Tone deaf idiot.

Sarcasm, right?

What do you want to occur? I'm confused by your post. Did you book a refundable resort? Will you not be able to still use your first class tickets? Can you not make it a special Christmas without the snow?

We will be there too and I'd love to hear suggestions for hikes and other activities in SLC and/or on the way to the canyons.

We knew this was a risk and booked because it's when our kids can ski with us unless we wait until late March which is a risk too. ... We are still excited to get out of dodge but would love ideas for non-ski stuff in case there's really nothing to ski.

OP, I’ll give you some sympathy. Utah is usually a safe bet for early season snow. This has been an unusually bad year. We were there last year and stayed at the base of Alta. We were supposed to go back this year but my husband is a crazy skier and subscribes to a bunch of YouTube snow meteorologists who were predicting bad conditions. We were able to change our hotel reservations to my son’s spring break. Our plane tickets were refundable so we are going to Canada.

I’m sorry you are locked in for less than ideal conditions. I hope your family has fun anyway

I only ever go in the summer to see my brother, so my recommendations aren't geared towards winter outdoor activities, but.....

There's a lovely aquarium as well as a zoo in SLC. I've not done the natural history museum but I've heard good things. Olympic Oval had public skating times, and being able to say you went skating on an Olympic speed skating track is cool.

Utah Mammoth are home on Dec. 29 vs. Nashville. If you prefer minor league hockey, the Grizzlies are home Dec. 26-27. For NBA fans, the Jazz have a few home games over the holidays.

Did you ask about a credit? We had an issue that year SWA melted down and the place gave us a credit to use later in the year. We still lost a lot of money in the trip because we paid for the holiday epic passes plus a premium on the resort that we didn’t recoup. The whole thing made me conclude this is really a rich persons vacation not an UMC vacation—you have to be okay basically losing the money if weather doesn’t cooperate or you get sick or injured and can’t go

You could ask the rental company to relist the rental and if it's taken by someone else to refund you. That way they aren't out any money.

This is hilarious.

Great idea. I'm sure the rental market for expensive accommodations a week from now, over Christmas break, at a ski resort where there is no snow will be particularly robust.
