Thoughts on Alexia and Alexis (for a baby girl)?

They would only be trashy if you used trashy spellings like Alexeeah and Alexus. That applies to every name though.

Like a few PPs have pointed out, Alexia refers to word blindness and a frozen french fries brand. And it sounds/looks like someone wanting to use Alexa as a name but changing it just a bit so not the same at Amazon's Alexa. People will mistake it for Alexa anyway. Would not choose.

Alexis I've never thought of negatively. And that Lexus joke I've heard maybe once and is dumb. I like that Alexis is a totally fine name -- I know one 40 yo Alexis and one 15 yo Alexis who both go by Alexis-- and that there are also the Lexi and Allie/Aly options.

Similar to Alexa and also Lexia (used in FCPS and many school systems)... What about:

Alice
Alanis (if you're OK with people constantly asking if you named her after Alanis Morissette...)
Alexandra, nickname Lexi
Alexandria, nickname Lexi

To me, Alexia (and Alexa) sound like abbreviations for Alexandra. I’d name the child Alexandra, and call her Alexia.

Alexis reads like a full name. Both are nice, but I prefer Alexia to Alexis for no particular reason. Whatever you pick, congrats on the baby!

Alexis - fine whatever but it sounds like it is already a nickname. Also gender neutral.

Alexia is way too close to Alexa. Don’t do it. I love Alexis but never used it because of the trashy connotation. Go with Alexandra.
