Disagree strongly. Ask any Californian. It’s a rich kid party school. University of Spoled Children. It’s reached its “fame” through hiring expensive marketers like Northeastern and Chicago have done. And it’s $99k a year |
No, you don’t speak for all Californians. Unfortunately the nation’s top privates are now nearing 100k. Disgusting yes. I don’t disagree. But USC holds a lot of lore in So Cal. It’s similar to how people feel about Notre Dame. Huge networking, loyal fans, Trojan love, beautiful campus, excellent academics. |
No they are not. Only USC and College of Denver. The rest are $83k -$94k. USC has always been the most expensive. It was the first one to go over $90k just a few years back and that gave the green light to other privates to go over $90k. The moment USC goes over $100k (soon I predict) the others will follow. And yes most Californians do not think highly of it. I was with a prof of computer science from there just yesterday and he rolled his eyes at the expense and ridiculous state of admissions. He sends his doctoral candidates to other schools. |
Uh, like here, every single day. I’ve never seen anyone concerned about any other kind of diversity |

We toured Loyola. Lots to like about it in terms of what they offer the students. The campus is beautiful, on the edge of a cliff dotted with palm trees and many of the buildings are elegant and have that 1930's Los Angeles vibe. The students were friendly and engaging, those touring us prospective families. We found out there are a lot more women than men and that every single student has to take a course in religion of some kind - your choice, Islam, Christianity, etc you get to choose.
Its not Evangelical like Pepperdine, there are no, all-student prayer-ins on the open campus. There is a lot of emphasis on their film school and the connections to industry. Their SAT averages I don't remember being particularly high. |

There are actually three big colleges in San Diego as well as some smaller ones.
The big ones are Cal State San Diego University of San Diego San Diego State University the U of SD is smaller but they are very similar in terms of acceptance rates and costs |
Someone from 1981 stumbled into the conversation. |
| We went to all 3 of these campuses. And I like diff things about each of them. LMU was my kid’s fave. |
No need to be rude. I agree. And I’m commenting from so cal which I assume the moderator can confirm. It’s a party school that has made its name upon extreme marketing measures just as Northeastern has. Are you a californuan6? Are you posting near USC? I an |
It’s the same grandma posting to bash USC with the same drivel she always does. Ignore her |
I’m from California and that’s what we said about USC when I attended a UC in 1981. But times have passed changed and so has USC. Like BU, BC and NYU, it has improved a great deal and become a deservedly respected university. |
Granny, we don't live in the 80s since long long time ago. It'll be year 2026 in no time already. |
