| Does anyone have any thoughts on schools like Santa Clara, Loyola, and San Diego? Out East and DD wants to head west. |
All three are solid schools. What does your DC want to study? |
| Dd got into santa clara and was offered maybe $15k per year merit. She went to UCLA instead. If the merit had been more i might have pushed santa clara. We never even went to see it tho we were familiar with the area. |
| Biology. |
| We loved loyola its the only west coast school on the list |
May I ask why? |
| The other colleges on the West Coast aren't worth the money. |
| We toured Santa Clara and I liked it a lot. It’s a nice campus, though has a very different feel from East Coast schools as it is very flat and has Spanish architecture. Good size. The location is very suburban but the train to SF is across the street from the campus, it’s about 30 mins to the beach and SJ airport is very close by. Hard to say more as toured on a Saturday morning and didn’t see a single student. |

Someone said Santa Clara was a west coast BC, and when we toured it felt really regional to me. But .. BC is probably more regional than I realize.
But it's a very similar demographic |
| Santa Clara is 1 mile from my house, a quiet campus and expensive. In-state would rather go to UCs or even San Jose state, just a couple miles from Santa Clara. |
Santa Clara is objectively a stronger university for many subjects, particularly for tech. |
| Loyola? |
Not SLAC/UC: USC is only one worth the money and all the way to the west coast. Of course there is Stanford but. |
| Stanford not an option. Can you tell from the list? |
| I'd also love to know more about all 3 schools, not from CA. How big of a deal is not having a car? Wildfires/air quality during the school year a routine issue, or infrequent? |
