| I used to catch the bus there and it's just an awkward area. |
The people eating at Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano’s do not live in the surrounding neighborhoods. Both are destinations for groups from other neighborhoods. |
And then the schools would quickly become not so great because of overcrowding and property values will start falling. Great idea. |
| Crime is high in that area. |
Those desirable school zones are already overcrowded/overcapacity. Do you suggest that a new school be put in the cheesecake factory property? |
| It's definitely more expensive than Clyde's. |
What an inane comment. You clearly don't live in or near Friendship Heights. |
You have a point but we can’t just not build housing because we also can’t build schools, for some odd unspoken reason. We need to build housing, and schooos. MacArthur HS will help, but they really should use the lord and Taylor site, or somewhere else in upper NW for a third high school / middle school, and continue to march forward with housing. And yes, three bedroom units should be a priority even if the city has to incentivize it with tax incentives, as the last 10 years have brought a lot of 1br and 2br inventory online but very little in terms of family sized units. They need to ditch vouchers as a policy to make family housing affordable, and use whatever levers they can to actually just build many more units for families. |
The reason more 3BR units don't get built is because they don't lease up- because family size shrinks year after year, locally, nationally and worldwide. There are already a lot of 3BR units in the city- the single family houses. Anyone in real estate development would tell you that new 3BR units are low demand- that's why so few get built. |
Same. Went to Trader Joe's on Saturday and as we drove by Rodman's wondered if TJ's (and more likely Total Wine) will be bad for Rodman's. On the other hand more shoppers in the area can't hurt. |
I think Rodman's will be OK...but their fresh food/produce section is really kind of terrible. Also, the Wegmans and now Lidl down the street across from Sidwell have been there for a year+ and Rodman's still seems to be chugging. |

| Why is Cf considered low class? I just went there with a friend and 2 mains, appetizer and a split dessert with tip was over $100. We got water/no drinks. |
You can’t buy taste and class. Trump has gold toilets and orders Big Macs for State Dinners. |
But you haven’t elaborated on why it’s low class. Just that trump ordered big Mac’s for a state dinner. Okay, that’s inappropriate on his part but why CF is low class. It’s not the price point. It’s too common of a restaurant? People who aren’t rich will occasionally eat there over other restaurants? Why isn’t Maggianos in the same category? |
