I worry for Rodman’s.
LOVE. |
| I guess I'm the only person who will miss it. My kids are extremely picky and it was one of two restaurants (both chains) that they would go to. |
This does sound like a good plan. |

I used to love going there, thirty years ago.
I don’t think it’s gross. I went to the Tyson’s one over the summer with DD and we both liked it. |
All of this would be great |
That building in which Maggianos is housed has been sold and slated for redevelopment. I assume that will happen and Maggiano's will have to close, if temporarily during the development. |
Could just be the Holidays, but I was just at Bloomingdales and it was packed. Very surprised...but again, could just be a Saturday in December. |
| 20 years of going here for Father's Day and my dads birthday. Guess we will head to Montgomery Mall now. |
Your dad won't be happy with a meal from Lia's or Clyde's as examples? |
I think it's weird to think that Maggiano's is a "destination" restaurant and better than Cheesecake Factory. I'm not hating on Maggianos. I think they are really similar in food quality/quantity. I'd probably give Cheesecake factory the edge overall. |

We used to go for Mother's Day when the kids were about elementary-middle school aged. They liked it a lot and would ask to go there other times. I liked that I was getting out of the house but it was never too crowded (which let's be honest was part of the death knell). Since covid, I think we've only been once or twice.
The thing is you get a decent enough meal at a good price point. You know what you're getting, each of our favorites were really good (I love cobb salad and it's good there). Lia's and Clyde's are a step up in terms of price. We've been to both but with kids, I'd pick cheesecake every time. I'm sad it's closing. (and surprised - I had high hopes that Trader Joe's would be enough to ignite more energy into Friendship Heights. |
Yes, pretty sure I already heard this one was closing. |
I haven't rigorously studied pricing of the places you mentioned, but on a visit to CF about six months ago, I thought the prices were much higher than I had remembered (even factoring in inflation), and the portion sizes were smaller. I think that for comparable dishes, Clyde's is likely cheaper. We're not big fans of Italian food, so haven't been to Lia's in forever. |
Maybe it's stupid (or not), but you also save 4% eating on the MD side because they only charge a 6% restaurant tax vs. 10% in DC (which is better than Arlington, VA at I think like 13%). |
| I haven’t been to that one in years, but my 22-year old broke self remembers going there for dinner and stretching the leftovers for days in the 90s. RIP |
