There are reports that he was making other students uncomfortable. DCI wasn’t exactly on top of that. Plus this case is horrendous. There is no way DCI could ignore this and hope it goes away. He snuck into her house!!! What a tragedy for that student.

Um, there is no question at all about the fact that this is horrific, criminal, and should never ever be swept under the rug or minimized. And so far no one is trying to minimize it. But when you say there are reports of him making other students uncomfortable, what's your source for that? So far the DCI parents I've talked to say their kids didn't know and didn't suspect. Where is it stated that other students had complained to the school about him?

He's a criminal and a pedo and deserves all the full weight of consequences that can be legally applied to this situation. And anyone who has sex with an underage child is committing rape because a minor can't legally consent and also all the other developmental reasons there is an age of consent and laws about statutory rape.

And yes, this is awful for the student more than anyone else. One can only hope she gets good counseling and the school community handles such a public crime in a non-punitive, non-bullying way for her.

Not the PP but that statement was in a few articles. https://www.dcnewsnow.com/news/local-news/washington-dc/dc-high-school-teacher-accused-of-climbing-through-students-window-to-sexually-abuse-her-officials-say/

Wow, the victim was the one other students told about the teacher making them uncomfortable. And sounds like he offered another student one-on-one tutoring and the victim found out about that. That is also disturbing obviously, but very different from students telling other school staff that this teacher made them uncomfortable which is what the original mention of this implied. Which may have happened, but that's not what this mention says so can't assume the school knew or should have known anything before the student told them.

There really is a tremendous amount of detail out there. I don't remember so many details released in similar stories.

It's awful and agree unusual. I hope the parents have the means to move her to a different school perhaps a different city. She can't go back to school with details like this out. She is being revictimized by news media

do the students know who she is? did this happen recently? I wonder how they found out?

There are very few of these types of incidents where the identity of the victim doesn't leak at some point, usually among students, not because of school staff. Not sure if you're asking how other students found out (to the degree they did or not) or how the school found out about the abuse, but either way, as long as the school and law enforcement and the victim's family are following up, the details are really none of our business here in DCUM-land.
