TO inevitably sees the 25th percentile scores jump up. It happened at every college, some more than others. Pre TO BU's test scores were lower but still very, very good. 25% of the class even at Harvard before TO got below a 1460. But suddenly a 1450 became a "bad" score. If you apply to BU, you read the tea leaves and leave out the 1450. This isn't unique to BU. NYU, Emory, Pomona, Tufts, Northeastern, BC, USC, Michigan, you name it, have all seen their 25 percentile scores rise to a level above Harvard's pre-TO. |
| 1450 is a great SAT score. I'd absolutely submit it to BU. |
+1 My daughter got in through RD with a WGPA above 4.6 and an IB diploma. She had great ECs, and her AP scores were all 4s and 5s. Her SAT wasn’t particularly strong compared to her other stats, so she applied TO. She ended up loving the school even more than she initially expected. The environment is safe and fun, with lots to do and plenty of places to eat. The students around her are smart and hardworking. The school is very supportive, and there are many opportunities to explore if you take initiative. |
My kid had a 1430 - and did not submit. |
| Lots of international Asians at BU, if that is what you are looking for in a school. |
BU gets hate because there's no enclosed campus and it's maybe the 4th or 5th best school in Boston. Your kid had the stats to go to a better college - why did your kid choose BU? |
Why not? It’s a great school for the right kids. Your reasoning is pretty subjective. |
No. Only 14% of students had a class rank to submit per most recent CDS. Top high schools very rarely rank anymore. |
+1 Same for my DC with similar stats. Loving freshman year thus far! |
| Decisions should be out by 12/15 |
Emory, and Umich have over 65% submitted test scores. Not the same as the others that all have less than 50% , especially NYU at 25%. Also Emory's test scores are the highest. |
