A nice light non black, not super lengthening mascara would be natural and scratch that itch. |
| I personally like the look of a little mascara. My DD has struggled with trichotillomania (pulling all her eyelashes out) - so now her lashes have grown back and she started using mascara and I haven’t said a word. I’m just so happy she has eyelashes. |
Bad parenting. Maybelline is fine, but the trendy drugstore makeup is ColourPop, NYX, and ELF |
Clinique glossy mascara. It’s very natural looking and washes off easily |
I’ve never heard of a school banning makeup. Is this some Mormon or Jehovah Witness school? |
Sephora is too expensive. Our problem is how to keep mascara fresh if you only use it rarely. I thought bacteria contamination in mascara is a concern after a few months but it only gets used like once a month. |
So when they go to school they bully the kid with Maybelline mascara? As if you can tell. Or do they carry the Sephora mascara around all day showing it off like some kind of sad trophy. For kids who only occasionally use it they make mini mascaras for less money. |

We've let our DD wear it since 5th grade... now in 7th and she wears it lightly all the time.
She plays sports, has acne but we just let her go with it. We let her know if it's too much. Some days she wears more than others... I figure we're just letting her get it out of her system, but she really likes it and we don't mind. She looks fine with it. |
How is that bad parenting exactly? If they want a specific brand, (which is absolutely ok when it comes to makeup - I’m an adult and want a specific brand) I am fine with it as long as it’s in our budget. |

My 7th grader has some blush/eyeshadow that she plays with if we go out to dinner or if they have a school dance. Everyday wear is just lipgloss. She hasn’t asked to do anymore than that so not sure what I would say if she asked. I would prefer we keep things the way they are until Highschool, but I am open to discussion.
She tells me some girls wear a lot, reapply at school, and even curl their eyelashes. |
All the more reason to buy the cheaper stuff. I'm not going to spend $30 on something that gets used 10 times and has to be tossed every 3 months. |
Pretty sure at least a handful of "moms" on these gift threads are actually the teens themselves trying to convince us to buy outrageously expensive things for our kids. |
| Lip balm and very small amount of mascara, maybe concealer or some blush. She does it really well. I have no problem with it. I’ve used makeup to feel more confident since I was 13 too. |
| My 8th grader wears foundation, blush, mascara . . in the evenings when she is on facetime with friends, they all seem to experiment with eyeliner but it gets washed off before bed. Every once in a while it happens during the day and I try soooo hard not to comment on the eyeliner. My sixth grader does all natural makeup - clear mascara, a little blush, and some lip balm. |
