A 3.9 UW is not low, you twit! Good grief.

Agree, along with adding Cal, Rutgers and USC.

NYU ED also except it obviously isn’t known for school spirit.

UCLA or maybe UCSD

Not OP, but how is a 3.9/4.0 unweighted "pretty low?"
This is DCUM. Most of our kids have a 6.0 on a 4 point scale.

What does your daughter mean by “lots of music related activities”? Is she looking to play music or listen to music?

She stated she would like a school that has a "diverse student body, global/international feel, lots of music related activities, strong school spirit and sports culture, and students who are smart, friendly, and driven." Yes, I realize there will not be schools that meet all of these criteria, but would appreciate soem suggestions on where to start looking. At this point open to all locations. Just based on the above, any thoughts from a culture/vibe standpoint. Undecided on what to study. Strong academically 3.9UW, 4.2W.

Think about applying as a music major. A lot of more selective programs will open up for you.

Music school is hard to get into even if you're a strong musician. Are you thinking of music majors at other kinds of institutions? I'd do a vibe check first just to make sure they aren't marginalized.

UCLA

UCLA is less and less diverse, and more robotic, every year since 2023.

You just described every large public state school in US. Throw a dart and you will hit your perfect fit.

I know this is going to be an oddball suggestion, but the University of Utah has excellent arts programs. One of my cousin’s kids seriously considered it for college because of the strength of its music and dance programs. Granted, they are from the mountain west, and more familiar and comfortable with Mormon culture, but it might be worth a click on their webpage.
