Sleepovers during Thanksgiving vacation week?

Anonymous
I have zero issues with sleepovers. Sounds like fun.

They gonna have an orgy probably

I would say no to Wednesday and Thursday night. That’s family time. But if we didn’t have plans the other nights are fine. I would also say no to two nights in a row. Kids need their sleep.

High school sleepovers are for doing things your parents wouldn’t let you do. Sneaking out, letting people in, getting drunk/high.

Wake up OP.

Probably what the kids are doing. If they sneak drugs, alcohol, out driving, etc.

You forgot sex. Not just at the sleepover but when they sneak out or sneak others in. Sneaking out and driving or meeting up with others driving was our biggie.

I’ve posted this before but in HS, I went on “sleepovers” because it was the house we crashed at. It was the parents that were never home or the ones that were oblivious and had no rules so we could come and go. The party house.

And I went to sleepovers all the time in HS and we made mix tapes and tried on different makeup styles and read YM magazine and maybe made a phone call or two to boys we liked. We didn’t sneak out to have sex. Not every kid is like that.

Since sleepovers are permitted generally, I see no reason to say no just because it’s a different day. This is what makes holidays fun, why is this even a question?

A bunch of opinions from posters who don’t permit sleepovers at all is irrelevant.

Drugs, sex, alcohol…then there’s the phones. What are they watching on their phones together, or taking videos of, or recording.

Yeah, but it isn’t 1999. Sexual orientation seems to very fluid now. Plus the cell phones and unlimited access to internet during sleepovers. Too much trouble.

Maybe they are more than friends…

This! I wish my kids were as social as I was back in the day.

This. You can get ahead of the 2nd night request now and just say "this is a one night sleepover this time, I need you in your own bed Weds night".

I am still very close with my 2 high school best friends and we are all mid-40s now. Sleepovers were a key part of this!

And I never did this, yet still had loads of sleepovers. We had a lot of silly fun. The one time we got in trouble was leaving the house at 11pm. Where did we go? To the grocery store to buy ingredients for brownie making.

NP and same.

For all the cries of "but it's not ye olden days" - you're right, it's not. Fewer teens are drinking alcohol and having sex than back in our day. Cannabis is a different issue, but that also doesn't mean that every kid who wants a sleepover is planning nefarious activities. Sometimes they just want to be with their friends and have fun.
