| We give 10% to God. Half of that goes directly to our church and half goes to other charities. We like Compassion and DonorSee, but we occasionally also help a friend. |
| We give $10,000 a year in a one time lump sum, then $20 in the plate each time we attend. |
You give 10% to God? Doesn't sound like it -- sounds like you give to your church and other charities. Since when does God need money? |
Why does God need a spaceship?π |
I don't know, Why? |

We give 10% of our pre-tax income (minus retirement contributions). It's a lot. |

I think I get it - because no one's ever really been to heaven. and you'd need a spaceship to get there, if it even existed. Way back when heaven was invented, humans didn't know what was beyond death - that you couldn't even breathe up there, out of the Earth's atmosphere. They didn't even know that the earth had atmosphere! Now we know all the stuff, but some people still believe in heaven. I used to believe in heaven as a kid, and I knew all about outer space. I just hadn't figured it out yet. People are gullible and clergy needed people to believe in order to keep their jobs. |
To "god" no you don't give to "god" you give to humans to indoctrinate and spend on themselves. If god were involved the Catholic Church, Morman Church would not have billions of $ just sitting around. Same with Mega Churches.. |

The Bible quote so youβre suppose to give one tenth (10%) of your income back to God
Not going down that road with you lovely folks this morning But I give $25-50 when we go, about $100 Easter, Christmas, new years. I was raised in a household where my father actively tithes $100+. I grew up in an active church, so thereβs other ways to give such as through ministry. I do think itβs important to tithe to a church you believe in their mission. |
Its just a line from the movie... |
Then why are you cluttering this thread? |
I had this same reaction when I sat on the finance committee. I make less than most and give more than most. And we have a very expensive historic building to maintain as well as amazing children's programming, music program, etc., etc. This stuff doesn't pay for itself. |
