I’ve found some improvement with T.
Question: do you need vaginal estrogen if you’re using an estrogen patch. Vaginal estrogen is the one thing my provider hasn’t brought up. |
woo hoo! |
You aren't dysfunctional. He is. His last partners faked it for his ego, and he wants you to fake it too. |

I’m struggling with the same issue. It’s awful. I’ve been completely depressed. I hadn’t heard the term clitoral atrophy until about a year ago. I’m 55, on HRT for about a year. My ob/gyn told me that when we get older, blood flow throughout our body (at least for some of us) doesn’t work like it used to. I went to a sexual health specialist and he put me on a low dose of Cialis, yes, the ED pill. It addresses blood flow. It helped somewhat, but I was still far from “normal.”
I came across an ad for something called Ristela, which is supposed to help the blood flow/satisfaction issue. I checked with my doctor and he said give it a try for a couple of months. The manufacturer said it takes about 2 months to kick in. I’ve been taking it about a month and I just had a normal O with my husband for the first time in about 18 months to 2 years! Will it continue to work? I sure as hell hope so. I’m don’t work for big pharma or the supplement maker. I would definitely email your doc and make sure it isn’t contraindicated with any meds you are on. Good luck! |
Not helpful or funny |
| Honestly it sounds more like stress. You are still too young for an atrophy to haven. |

OP here - I did see my doctor and she sees some signs of atrophy. I just started vaginal estrogen a few days ago... I'll report back (if I remember to do so) in a while!
And I have since talked with my partner about this issue and he could not be more supportive and understanding. |
What are the signs for the rest of us? |
She said the tissue deeper inside my vagina was pale, indicating less blood flow to the area, I guess. I also notice that my clitoris is smaller than it used to be, and less sensitive. |
| My GYN suggested two things (1) topical estrogen and (2) practice, practice, practice. Meaning buy yourself some toys. |
| I am on Lexapro and that affects my ability to O easily |
| Even without atrophy, i feel the intensity of the big O decreases as we age. |
