Yes, agree with this. I can’t even imagine the writers to be of an age to find this funny.

Obviously it's an exaggeration, but rings true on some level.

My husband and I just had a discussion about a mystery coat that's been in our hall closet FOR YEARS. We've talked about it several times, asked family if it's theirs, friends, etc. I finally decided it was time for it to go to donation and suddenly he claims to not have heard anything about this coat before and "maybe he could wear lt."

It still hangs in the closet as of this morning. I'll report back if it's ever worn and if we have the same discussion in another year.

This. The joke is that you tell them something. Over and over. Have them repeat it back to you. They not only forget but they have no recollection of the conversation at all. It's astonishing. They are fine at their jobs. Must be nice to carry just one stream in your brain.

Exactly. The joke is that you tell them something and they have no recollection of being told. This doesn't happen with women as much because (unfortunately) women are still carrying most of the load when it comes to managing a couple/family's calendar.

Women only carry that load because they want to.

I can kind of relate and kind of not. If my husband didn’t realize I was out of town, he would just leave the kids alone in the house.

This is true for some women, but I can promise you that I don’t want to. I have ADD, and managing the family calendar takes so much of my energy.

Yeah this isn't funny it's a damn shame so many wives find this relatable.

But they could do one where the wife reports her husband and kids missing because he took them to the playground and then didn't come home for 5 hours and stopped answering his phone because, and this is a direct quote, "I was playing Pokemon."

Agree. I am squarely Gen X and don’t know any husbands like this. Now my father and his peers, yes they fit this mold

What? Gen X here, and I know plenty.

Then I’ll tell you to branch out because clearly the husbands in your life are a negative influence on one another. This isn’t normal husband behavior of men age 60 and under.

NP. Congratulations on marrying a man who doesn't behave this way. Many of us have different experiences than you...hard to imagine, I know. And obviously our experiences are common enough that people in the SNL writers room understand it and can write a skit that resonates. I can pretty much guarantee the Honeymooners didn't have a family calendar with the DW putting her business trips on it while the DH still claimed never to know they were happening. This is a modern phenomenon that a lot of us experience. It's wonderful for you that you don't.

NP. This makes me mad because you know if you husband acted this way at work he'd be fired. Why do you let him get away with it at home?

How do they “get away with it” exactly, and what’s that got to do with women telling them and then they forget? I can’t literally pound it into his head.

This. I guess we could divorce them, which is the marital equivalent of firing. But I've decided not to be so hasty.

put your dh on a 6 month pip

Yeah but ... has anyone still living actually seen that show?

Never heard of it… 20 something here.

Not really a new concept for comedy, pretty standard family sitcom plot line. Mom goes away and the household falls apart.

This is hilarious. Thx for sharing

This reminds me of the man-on-the-street interviews on Jimmy Kimmel where they stop dads and see how many basic facts they know about their own children.

As has already been said… it’s funny even IF your husband does his share and more! It’s making fun of the way men think and relate to their wives. Women have their isms too.
