It was a DUCT CLEANING SCAM. They prey on the dementia elderly and "nesting" pregnant mothers.
You do not need to clean your ducts!

SUPER! Look it's a 12 year old.
I’ve fostered dogs and cats for a decade, keep my windows open probably 4 months a year, have nothing but wood and tile floors, have a fireplace/wood stove and I can tell you, my duct work is absolutely filthy. I know this from having to remove a section of it during some remodeling work. It is absolutely filthy inside despite new HVAC filters on the first day of every month, without fail.
Trust me - your ducts are probably filthy too.
Is cleaning super necessary? Probably not, unless there’s mold problems from moisture. But duct work is typically covered with dust and dirt inside.
Don’t take my word for it though, see for yourself. Take a vent cover off, stick your arm down inside the duct, and rub your hand on the inside. Then look at your hand.
