The congresswoman was scammed at her home by fraudsters pretending to be HVAC customers. They used her credit card to rack up 4k+ in fraudulent charges. The officer writing the police report stated that she is in the early stages of dementia. Her office is pushing back.

| This is so sad. People who scam the elderly should be strung up by their toe nails. |
| She’s 88. Someone should be looking after her. She should be retiring and having her decades of service celebrated. It’s insane that she’s still in office. |
| She needs to retire, like all the old people in Congress and the White House. |
| This is awful and sad but also she needs to retire. Like many others, per PP. |
| She is beyond the early stages. She is not in charge of her office anymore. |
This is fine with me. As a constituent I can say that her staff is top notch. They’ve assisted my family twice in recent years. |
Great. Vote for the talented chief of staff to take over the seat in office. |
Hey campaign manager Jacqueline Pelt is her caretaker and power of attorney who reported the crime. I wonder if she reported this because she wants to force the issue somehow. Someone who wanted Holmes to stay in office wouldn't have made a public scene over $5000. |
Agree, but not surprising that she could have cognitive decline at 88! |
It was a DUCT CLEANING SCAM. They prey on the dementia elderly and "nesting" pregnant mothers. You do not need to clean your ducts! https://www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quality-iaq/should-you-have-air-ducts-your-home-cleaned |
I’ve fostered dogs and cats for a decade, keep my windows open probably 4 months a year, have nothing but wood and tile floors, have a fireplace/wood stove and I can tell you, my duct work is absolutely filthy. I know this from having to remove a section of it during some remodeling work. It is absolutely filthy inside despite new HVAC filters on the first day of every month, without fail. Trust me - your ducts are probably filthy too. Is cleaning super necessary? Probably not, unless there’s mold problems from moisture. But duct work is typically covered with dust and dirt inside. Don’t take my word for it though, see for yourself. Take a vent cover off, stick your arm down inside the duct, and rub your hand on the inside. Then look at your hand. |

The fact that 88 year old Eleanor Holmes Norton is still DC's delegate to Congress is a reflection of how pathetic and ineffective local Democrats are these days. Norton has been a basket case for many years.
And yet, every two years DC Democrats reliably reelect this elderly, dementia-ridden dinosaur to Congress. And then they complain when the federal government completely ignores local concerns. I think electing a representative that is of sound mind might be a good place to start. But this seems to be too much for our one party town. |
| If she were 38 we would not have statehood either. I think she should have retired years ago but that wouldn't have made congressional Republicans more hospitable to DC. And while I would not be surprised to learn she has been formally diagnosed with dementia, I also have seen enough police reports to know that mpd often makes stuff up, gets stuff wrong, and leaves stuff out. |
It's a boundary layer. All ducts will collect something on their surfaces because the air speed at the air-metal boundary is zero. That also means that dust isn't getting out either. |
