What’s it going to be like living in a dictatorship?

the problem for most americans is, there is no where to go without literally going over the MX or CA borders illegally. Ironic, no?

DP. What are you talking about? We are still allowed to leave. The irony is the fact that other developed countries with high living standards don’t allow Willy-nilly immigration and that is part of what makes them desirable in the first place.

Do you have anything to specifically refute?

I’ve had our family scrub (as best we can) our social media profiles, to remove all political statements.

We are also all getting concealed gun permits. Not to carry guns but because your license shows that during a traffic spot. We want the police to imagine we too are fellow fascists.

We’ve also made small donations to the Leader’s political coffers.

So you joined them.

Wow, exactly. That was soo dumb.

So when we have elections, and we will, they will be almost meaningless. Unless folks in “red states” wake up and realize GOP is screwing them and they stop voting for MAGA. It could happen but that would mean Dems need to put up candidates who will fight for working people, not middle of the road (nowhere) candidates.

This. It’s done. At this point it feels bleak and we are stuck. Our votes really don’t matter. And there’s no desire from the GOP to even try to pretend to run the government. As much as I dislike Trump, he’s right, we won’t have to worry about voting in the next election.

Authoritarians want us to feel defeated. It’s never over!

Did slaves just accept their fate? Make a plan to attend a No Kings rally, sign up to stay active, DO SOMETHING.

Come on people I know this is hard but anyone who says they’re giving up is obviously comfortable being a “good

German“ Don’t be that.

Bullying people is not the solution. And in case you aren’t sure, you are being a bully and it does not compel anyone to do what you want.

DP. I think you’ve lost all meaning for bullying. That poster is giving you a light shoulder shake to wake up. The suggestion to show up is prudent. If you’re scared to do so, you’ve already given away your freedom of speech.

Don’t obey in advance!

Nobody has done that. Go to the rally.

I keep hearing people hoping for this outcome, and I'm shocked at the historical ignorance and naivete. Neither a military coup or invasion by a foreign military are things you want to experience. They typically go very very badly for the local populations—women raped, men captured and killed, your life as you know it, over.

There is a kind of sick irony that so many Americans are now becoming acquainted with what it feels like to watch your home fall into dangerous disarray, only to find yourself unwanted and unwelcome in the rest of the world. That even if you do make it out, you'll never be anything more than an "immigrant," othered and second-class.

We had something unique and special here. Not perfect by any means, but special. And we threw it away because we forgot that immigrants are what made this country everything it has ever been.

USA will look exactly like Russia. No free media. Poor 99.9% and hideously wealthy elites. A Putin like characer in charge for 35 years.

No. Those places are desirable because they stole and plundered from everyone else, then when they'd bled a region dry, they left it in utter chaos and without their resources, then they shut their doors to immigrants from the countries they destroyed.

These places arent desirable because they don't allow immigrants. They are desirable because they took everything and ran, and locked the doors behind them.

But it might not be enough.

Wishful thinking. You see what SCOTUS is planning? They're aiming to dismantle the voter rights act, which will allow the GOP to redistrict many areas of the country with impunity in order to dilute out minority votes. I saw an estimate that it means +17 seats for the GOP, and thatisn’t even considering redistricting in Texas and Ohio. Congress will be permanently GOP and USA will become one party rule for the rest of our lives. They'll easily get rid of term limits once they have cemented permanent take over of congress.

One party rule for a few election cycles and we will see blue states start to secede financially.

Some may already do it in 2027 if not earlier.

Just read a history book about WWII OP and you will have your answer. That is the problem...too many schools don't teach history anymore, too many dumb Americans believe what they hear on Fox News, and the rest don't think it is possible for the US to have a dictatorship..."not in our backyard" kind of thinking.

But many won’t have time to do it before 2026. I suspect blue states will counter this.

I just saw a map if GenZ voted and all states were blue except 2.
