"Why won't the Right just let us abuse their free speech without any blowback when they're in power?" Oh look, the same people who were cheering Douglas Mackey being tried and convicted for a meme about voting for Hillary Clinton are now suddenly free speech warriors. Free speech for me, not for thee. |
In Tennessee the school is Perry County High School. If such shootings were less frequent we'd remember the one in 2024 in Iowa. |
| The most I could see here would be disorderly conduct. People freaked out. If he had included Iowa in the meme it would have helped (but it might have been an existing one he used and like me would not have good editing skills for something like this). Or a date. Regardless, I say disorderly conduct and I wonder why there has not been a hearing to reduce bail. |
The school in the rural town where my brother lives is a county high school and they call it X County High School, not X high school. |
Good luck with that defense. |
Republicans clinging hard to that anti-voting / anti-democracy effort, eh? For those who don't know, Douglas Mackey committed election fraud, misdirecting people away from voting. PP thinks that a man quoting Donald Trump's own words is as bad a crime as using fraud to preventing someone from voting. Republicans HATE democracy. Republicans HATE truth, because the truth is, their beliefs and goals are evil. https://www.justice.gov/usao-edny/pr/social-media-influencer-douglass-mackey-convicted-election-interference-2016 As proven at trial, between September 2016 and November 2016, Mackey conspired with other influential Twitter users and with members of private online groups to use social media platforms, including Twitter, to disseminate fraudulent messages that encouraged supporters of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to “vote” via text message or social media which, in reality, was legally invalid. For example, on November 1, 2016, in or around the same time that Mackey was sending tweets suggesting the importance of limiting “black turnout,” the defendant tweeted an image depicting an African American woman standing in front of an “African Americans for Hillary” sign. The ad stated: “Avoid the Line. Vote from Home,” “Text ‘Hillary’ to 59925,” and “Vote for Hillary and be a part of history.” Several hours after tweeting the first image, Mackey tweeted an image depicting a woman seated at a conference room typing a message on her cell phone. This deceptive image was written in Spanish and mimicked a font used by the Clinton campaign in authentic ads. The image also included a copy of the Clinton campaign’s logo and the “ImWithHer” hashtag. |
