With Democratic senators and congressmen at the national level, and control of the state legislature, that seems like extreme hyperbole.

When VA’s democratic senators and reps are in the minority party, and the majority party Rs are willing to do whatever Trump wants, then the elected VA Ds are unable to stop Trump’s abuses of power. Not hyperbole - our sad reality. If Miyares wins, he will follow Trump and do whatever he can to ensure Rs are able to abuse their power in VA. If there’s any question about ballot legitimacy in the 2026 elections, it’s pretty clear Miyares would side with Rs. If Trump decides to deploy National Guard in NoVA like he’s doing in DC and Portland and trying to do in Chicago, it’s a pretty fair bet that Miyares would enthusiastically support Trump doing that.
