Are you suggesting that the roommate went sneaking around Lynn's stuff because she didn't like having an Asian roommate?

It does sound like the roommate disliked/distrusted Lynn for some reason that we'll never know, but I doubt it was racial. Given the lengths Lynn went to perpetrate fraud, I'm not surprised there was something off about her in person.
