2011 when buying a house here, used DCUM real estate. Didn’t explore the rest until a couple years later and the baby & kid stuff. The school stuff, and relationships. Off topic only recently. Politics for a laugh but it seems like same handful of people and mostly topic lifts from elsewhere . I love DC! |

I was living in Los Angeles but due to move to Bethesda (where I'd already lived a couple of years earlier) but this time with 2 x rising 3rd graders. I was looking for information on public schools and private schools in the area and I googled some question and - boom - I was in the forum for private schools etc.
It has been immensely helpful for the kind of information I was looking for early on, but also finding out about SSL / camps / colleges. I started looking at the college forum when my kids were in maybe 7th or 8th grade, so I was able to sift through all the crazy and find some good nuggets of information. My kids have started college this year but I still go and read / write in the Ents and books section, sometimes off topic and eldercare etc. I would like to wean myself off it completely so hopefully that will happen soon. |

| 2008. I was moving to DC, so very young but recently married and considering starting a family and somehow stumbled across this site. I didn’t end up becoming a mom until 2015, and no longer live in DC. |

| When DD grew pubic hair. We still laugh about it. I googled something and this thread on DCUM showed up where this mom tells her daughter “ Honey, your pubes are showing!” I was laughing so hard, DD came and read what was in my screen out loud. Which made it even funnier. |

In 2010, I was working in an HRCS that got a lot of play on here. The DC school forum was a hot mess, and I couldn’t look away.
Over the years, I’ve frequented infertility, then pregnancy and infant/toddler, nanny forums, special needs, PG schools, private schools, now it’s home schooling and travel, local politics, recent topics. DCUM has been there through it all. I come here quickly for anything local I want to scoop. I see the college forums |
