His SAT is 1530 superscored, it's not high. TJ's average SAT is around 1510, so he is just an average student at a magnet like TJ. You are not comparing him to top students. |

from our VA school that GPA is right around top 25% and with top rigor is good enough for UVA ED, not a huge reach, but does not always work out. Go for it, with VT EA as a backup. |

SAT tutoring cannot buy a score that high, unlike class tutoring which can buy a GPA.
Probably motivation or a learning difference driving the gap. |
