Things You'll Never Get A Handle On...

I’ll also probably never drive a stick shift. Heck I’ll never drive in Europe.

I'm with you! Always wanted to learn but almost everyone I knew had automatics. The good news is many rental cars in Europe are manual, if you ever want to drive there.

I can cook and bake and do a million different things in the kitchen including clean and put away as I go. Nothing is left out.

My bathroom, however. I hate putting things away and pulling them back out. Everything is always out on the counter. Hair spray, lotions, vitamins, toothpaste, etc.

Why?

How is this difficult? Are you also the people who cannot figure out which is the inner and outer loop of the Beltway?

I can manage laundry, but I also live in a small, historic home with very little storage. My closet is 5ft by 2ft. I love my house, but it's not practical for any type of wardrobe, even a minimal wardrobe needs space.

Ahh, this b glad I’m not alone.

Great thread, thanks!

Apps. What’s wrong with a good old-fashioned browser?

I’m with you on laundry. It feels good to have it put away, yet I struggle to do it.

I used to feel this way about apps. Why do I need an app if I can just go to their web site?? But I have found that apps can be useful and easier to navigate than web pages.

Cleaning up after myself as I go. I just, can't do it. I can take 30 minutes after the kids go to bed and straighten up, and I do, but I don't think I'll ever be able to get out of the habit of leaving dishes out, throwing dirty clothes on the floor, as I move through the day.

Meal planning. I just for the life of me cannot plan a week of meals and then go to the store once a week and buy said ingredients for all the meals. I am always winging it and cooking based on what I have hanging it around. Oh I have frozen chicken, let me take that out of the freezer and figure something out. Oh I bought rolls at the store, what can I do with these? Let's see...I have frozen meatballs. Meatballs subs it is. Every day this is me.

I'm a mess in some areas, but my inboxes (work, personal, family, and two volunteer orgs that I head) are reviewed, emptied and sorted daily. I hate having any inbox or text notification.

I don’t see what’s bad about this? Is that it stresses you out to have to come up with something based on what you have already in the house?
I’ve done 4 or 5 days worth of advance meal planning before, but I’ve found that once I get to the 3rd day I’m often not in the mood for what I’ve planned. Or something comes up, like a dinner invitation or practice running late, etc. So that meal gets postponed, and then the produce for that meal loses a day of freshness, and then I’m even less enthused about it on the 4th day.
I know weekly meal planning works for lots of people, but I guess I don’t see it as something to aspire to?
