Arlington likely has the edge in my view.

Arlington. Union will take a while to mesh, if they ever do. 10 new players do not integrate over night.

Yeah but it's 10 new players that came from the same team. If they don't mesh quickly, you can chalk it up to the coaching. Most of those 10 have played together for a few years now.

10 players from a bottom of the table team though?

10 good players. Can’t blame them for crap NVA coaching.

That NVA coach has actually won a conference and finished above 5th place before neither of those things MV can say he has done before.

PL also managed to ruin the 09 team that won the conference at u13 and u15? U16 they finished 7th? U17 everybody leaves!

There is a big difference between u13 and u16. players change, everyone is at the same height, so that advantage goes away.

I realize that the VDA 2009 team has pulled in a bunch of quality players from many different teams and they have been the recipients of getting a lot of positive PR from their current coach. They most likely would have ended up where they have regardless.

And the RU 2009 team has mostly been made of girls who have come up from the RU program and who also had a coach who was well connected... they probably would have had the same occur as the VDA group.

And similar things can be said at some of the other top programs in the MA as well...

At this point at U17 the top players are concentrating not on recruitment but on development and growth...

Oh well, this seems to be a whole lot about nothing...

That’s what you get in Richmond. Those teams come up together and there isn’t much turnover except when they bring in players from the beach area or Charlottesville or Roanoke. They also don’t have players leaving for greener pastures like all of the northern Virginia teams do.

There’s always a lot of turnover in northern Virginia. When you get into the later high school ages, most of the best players congregate to the best team.

I think it’s wrong to discredit the core Vda team though. It’s a really good team that started off not as a good team. They got better and they added some amazing players.

Vda won the MA and Richmond went further in the playoffs. They are easily the best two teams in the age group in Virginia.

They also love playing each other. There is healthy respect between the players and coaches. Something that crazy northern Virginia soccer dads don’t understand.[/quote]

This has developed over time. I think as the girls have grown older, they have gotten to know one another a little bit more through playing in league events, USYNT events, etc. But it wasn't always that way. There was some venom between the groups, especially after an RU player's lower leg was broken on a hard foul when they were younger - U14 IIRC. But, again, I do see them as having a healthy competition on the pitch. Both teams will be missing top players opening weekend as they are attending USYNT U-17 events in Chula Vista. Good Luck to all this upcoming season. Should be fun!

Ditto for the guys who left, just a different accent.

I guess the photos of what really happened on that tackle never made it to Richmond?

I love reading these posts and seeing how little you bozos know about soccer.

Misspelled bozos means MV has found the chat. If you can after three years get him to communicate with you, it is a word he uses. Otherwise, he has little to zero communication ability with his teams, his players and in sessions. Zero training on positional needs. Players are terrified to talk to him, and he picks one player to cheer on each season who has all the athletic and none of the technical abilities, demoralizing the other 15+ . CW, use ECNL and legacy connections to save this program. You have a wonderful legacy and program and vision, finish your coaching journey strong. The U13-U15 squads have every ability to continue what you have chosen and built. The U16s deserve the recruiting their last three years have built to.

Truth. MV has zero leadership or coaching ability. Ask any of his players. Be sure to ask his former “stars” who all left for other clubs. Has zero relationships w college coaches bc he came from VYS. Good luck. Report back after the season what communication, training or instruction you had with MV.

Union u15 has ability? Lots of talk on here about that team. What has changed that will make them competitive?

The 2009 age group is a lot more up for grabs than people are saying...

New coaches for FVU, CSA, RU, VDA, Courage. Arlington is the only team with a consistent staff and style of play.

Not to say the other coaches and the talent on those groups might not just carry them through, but it will take time to adjust to new voices and new coaches.

Don't sleep on Arlington and MT!

Arlington has nothing on VDA or RU but I like your confidence. I think CSA and Arlington battle for 3rd. I don’t think FVU (NVA 2.0 minus its top player who is at VDA now) is going to be a factor and will likely be behind Courage.

I wouldn’t sleep on CSA. VDA has looked bad in preseason. RU has a new coach and drama. CSA is a really strong team and drama free.

CSA is always a let down. They will never get anywhere in playoffs until they learn how to play. Same with VDA. They have size and speed, but can't pass the ball.

Yeah, CSA has been a solid, strong team the past few years and will continue to be this year as well. VDA will get things sorted out as will RU. Yes, they RU has a new coach and that was not expected, but he's familiar with the team and has been involved in Richmond soccer for years.

Biggest issue is there is only the 9 league games plus the cup games, so not a lot of room for error. Lose a few early and it's lights out.
