Yes, crime is bad in backwater depressed cities. Should we be comparing the nation’s capital to them? Shouldn’t we be holding the nation’s capital to a standard for safety that’s as high as….The Bronx?

And in 2024, in D.C., there were 975 ARMED carjackings. Virtually none of the perpetrators were caught, prosecuted, and imprisoned for fittingly long sentences. If they were apprehended at all, D.C. simply released them back onto the streets.

The you even coined their own term for D.C. carjacking: the called it “free cars.” They were aware there would be no penalty, even if caught.
