We are at a title 1. Lots of ELL and kids with IEPs (including mine). 25 kids per k class. Part time aid.

Title I schools have a hard cap on class sizes. For K I think it's 22. The additional money for teachers to ensure class sizes fall within that comes from the federal government, not DCPS. That is why many schools outside NW have smaller class sizes. It has nothing to do with trying to crowd NW schools. It has to do with Title I schools having different rules and another funding source, not DCPS somehow favoring these schools.


DCPS makes the rule about reduced class size not the federal government. Title 1 does not restrict class size. I teach in VA at a Title 1 school and we have classes with 30 kids.
