That is crazy! Who does BTSN before classes even begin? Have schedules even settled?

High School Back to School Night is very different than it is at the Elementary and even Middle School levels.

I think the MCPS employee is mistaken. BTS night for all schools levels is always in September. BCC has it on the 4th.

Must have been a long time ago. None of my kids had a schedule preview, and my oldest is 20. However both their high schools had/have a social event before the beginning of the year.

Don't blame MCPS, blame your high school. If they used to do this and don't this year, that was their choice. I am a bug critic of central office but it's ridiculous to blame them for everything that goes wrong.

Sorry for doubting you. I'm very surprised. We've lived in southern MoCo for 20 years and none of the elementary, middle or high schools my kids attended or still attend did BTSN before school started.

Not true-Westland MS has their BTS night on the second day of school August 27-which is bizarre in my opinion but probably makes teacher’s lives easy because parents aren’t trying to have a mini parent teacher conference on the second day of school

My school has been very clear. We got the final schedule last Thursday.

Our HS and ES have just copied and pasted the same transition day vaguely info that MCPS shared with the media

One year my school did it on the fourth day of school and we voted as a staff to never do that again because schedules hadn’t settled yet so we had new students the next day and the following Tuesday. We were asked to reach out to those parents on our own time.

All principals were required to file a specific plan with Central Office. Your school chose not to share details with parents.

2 schools chose not to share. This is inequitable if most others did share

Ugh. That sounds awful. Last year the Westland BTS night was in the second week of school and I thought it was early. But second day this year is a bizarre choice by the administration.

1. Admin and teachers don't want parents turning BtSN into a parent teacher conference to discuss their Larla

2. they want to provide information before 100 parents start emailing same question on the first week of school

3. Admin and teachers have their own kids' BtSN to attend and some have spouses who are teachers needing to be at their own school for BtSN and need other parent to watch kids
