What would you do with $2000 in “fun money” every month?

I'd invest it, because I like it. I'd also invest it in my health (I want to live til 97) and good food, travel and friends. And then charitable giving.
If it really just comes from investments, why not give it away. It's like circling the money, but you get brownie points.
Find several places that make their money go further. I double my money for example, so give it to me and I give it back to you next year with 10% interest.

I would be so good at this! Sailboat! Horse! International trips! Quirky charity donations! Art!

Biweekly cleaners if I have kids and pets at home.

Weekly massages and private tennis lessons otherwise.

I'd also get my nails done regularly, it's something I stopped doing during Covid and when things opened back up it felt like a frivolous expense when we have college and retirement to save for and kids always need something (OT, braces, new shoes) and we're not wealthy. But I do miss that extra level of care that someone else provided, and just having nails that looked really nice all the time.

This whole forum is nothing but happy problems about a ton of disposable income.
So jealous (as i stare at the stack of bills needing to be paid and making ends meet).

I would pay off outstanding school lunch accounts for our public schools and also create a fund that can pay off such accounts in future.

As for outsourcing chores, health, travel...I do all of that on my DH's earnings anyways. My cosy and low profile gravy train is perfect for me.

I have no desire for beach home, designer anything, jewels, horses, art, dogs or an expensive car etc.

Sounds like money has bought you everything.

The super-rich seek out adventure. That's their high (and bragging points). Just avoid too high-risk excursions (ex: Titan submersible), but otherwise look to unique yearly opportunities like exotic places or activities.

This is 100% ancillary money, just for fun, for you to use on something you enjoy. It can be saved and used on one or two large things every year, or it can be spent daily or weekly, whatever.

What are you doing with the cash?

2k is not much to have "fun" with rn. I'd save it up. It's barely enough to buy 1-2 bottles of a nice rare wine.

Personal trainer at the gym + give some to charity (starving children is just horrible to see)

International travel for two weeks once per quarter. There’s a lot of world out there.

I wasn’t to add art to my answer. I love original art but can’t seem to justify the cost.

+1. We have two rescue dogs and I would probably adopt another rescue dog or at least donate some money to animal rescue organizations. It’s very bleak out there right now for rescues in places like Texas and California. I would also donate to NPR, the Center for Biological Diversity, and local food banks. And then I would refresh my wardrobe a bit and maybe explore Botox or something similar. I’m 38 and despite having three kids am very fit and have no great, so if I was to have an unnecessary cosmetic vice that would probably be it. And more date nights interspersed with some fun weekend trips.

Donate 10%. Get a personal trainer, then buy new clothes for my new body. Books. Art. See friends.
