Is there any purpose in completing FAFSA at $400k+?

We make less, $320, and even with 2 in college, got nothing but guaranteed loans.

Middle class on some zip codes

No wonder my kid got a Pell grant.

This is our feeling. We are right around there and yes, solidly middle class in our zip code. We aren’t filling it out. No NPC has given us anything even when I put our HHI at less.

We had to do FAFSA for merit at two different schools. We didn't do it until after they were awarded the merit. Higher income than yours. No issue after submitting and we have to do it each year for merit.

DD received merit at several schools and we had not filled out FAFSA.

Willing to share which schools?

Why would they need FAFSA for merit anyway?

+1

It feels that way now with inflation and one kid in a $90k/T10 and another soon to follow.

Yes, to take advantage of the unsubsidized student loans. Both of my kids took them out. It's good for chidren to have skin in the game, even if only $5500 the first year.

If you have one child: one can get away with not submitting FAFSA but if you have a 2nd child going, then you should submit it, right?
No penalties for not submitting the first round?

This is the only reason to fill it out. If you want loans to cover any gaps.

Fafsa no longer considers siblings in college. CSS does.

What about if closer to $200k HHI but with decent assets? Don't want to hurt chance of acceptance and doubt we will get anything but unsure. Ran the Net Price calculator at one OOS and didn't get offered anything but loans.

There is your answer then.

We don’t receive need-based aid per NPC and don’t file the fafsa when applying for colleges this year. What if our financial situation changes in two years due to a long-term job loss?

Would we still be eligible for need-based aid in the junior and senior years if we file the FAFSA for the first time at that point?

Calm down. OP was apparently just running low on people to tell about his income. You can only tell your butcher & barber so many times before they stop hiding their eyerolls.
