I don't know about Jews in the US but the overall majority of Israeli's are perfectly fine with the ongoing atrocities, this problematic nature of Zionism is deeply ingrained into Israeli society.

Zionism is the belief that Jews should be able to live in peace in their homeland - the one Jewish homeland in the world. If anything, as a Jew, I feel more supportive of Israel and Zionism in the wake of 10/7 and the unbridled hatred it unleashed for Jews all over the world. The only thing “problematic” about Zionism is Jew haters don’t want Jews to live anywhere in peace, especially not the Arab Muslims who invaded the Levant and thought they’d suppressed / gotten rid the Jews who lived there for millennia only to find Jews returning after WWII. I don’t like Netanyahu or his government, but I’m ever more committed to Israel.

That seems like a seriously over-simplified history of Israel, considering all the invaders over the centuries you've left out.

I'm a non-Jew and along with other non-Jews I know who oppose what Netanyahu is doing are not and never have been "Jew haters." And I'm not clear what you mean by suggesting that there has been this simmering hatred for Jews "all over the word" that has been unleashed--who specifically are you talking about? MTG?

Do you not care that your "homeland" was built on other people's homes? Necessitated the forced removal of others? It's not like Israel was built on some vacant land.

You’re right. It wasn’t vacant. It was a land that was occupied by Jews for millennia and has a Jewish population very much there. It also had a population of Arab Muslims - aka “Palestinians” - that had invaded over centuries and had been benignly and not so benignly occupying areas that were previously Jewish - and Christian and other groups, too. So Jews moved back to an area - their homeland - that they had to flee or were expelled from by invaders. Arab Muslims were offered their own state and they rejected that. And here we are.

And Beinart is absolutely right: the most committed, outraged critics of Israel’s policies and actions WOULD have stood up for him 80 - 85 years ago and they will today, too.

He knows it. And he also knows how Zionists are panicked and fearful of Americans actually talking to a Palestinian because they know that just talking to one melts away all of the lies we’ve been told about Palestinians, their nature, and how they view Americans.
Ok, I’ll bite. “Hey Mr. Hamas, why did you cross the border on 10/7 and kill/kidnap a bunch of civilian Jews.” Regular American here, not a Jew. What’s the answer since you seem to speak for them ?

I’m the person you replied to.

Just acknowledging that as part of taking this opportunity to tell you to F off the nearest pier.

I’ve condemned Hamas consistently, but the truth is that even the worst scumbags in Hamas have more redemptive value than you and your “not even a Jew!” schtick.
Totally useless post. No substance, can’t you do any better ? The premise of your post is you want Hamas to talk to Americans , well talk ? And I am not a Jew, and don’t even know many.

Lemme guess - you’re the Lutheran hand bells guy. #yawn

The premise of my post is that I agree with Jon Stewart and Peter Beinart’s view that the root cause of Middle East conflict has NEVER been what Israel and the U.S. have propagandized it to be …
Another useless post. I get it, you worship Jon Stewart, I never watch the clown.

How would you have time to watch him, even if he wasn’t a clown, what with your busy schedule playing hand bells, crushing bowls brimming over with lutefisk, and denying a genocide that the rest of the world seems to see pretty clearly at this point?!

You’re a busy little bee, after all!
I have no clue what your talking about. You wanted to tell a Hamas story to a regular American and you have said nothing but nonsense over 3 posts. I am not Jewish and generally don’t have a dog in this fight. But, keep doing what you are doing, very convincing.

With the avalanche of negative public opinion crushing down on Zionism, it’s funny that you think anyone is waiting on your vote. 😂
Like I said in another post, the US as a nation is only in the Mideast for the oil. Once it’s gone, or not needed, so is the US. To the average non Jew like me, we could care less what happens there, and happy to completely disengage ASAP. And your nastiness confirms that should be the long term goal.

Yeah, no. Arabs are indigenous to that land as well. Read your own Torah FFS.

Omg! The Arabs are indigenous to Arabia. They are Semitic people.
