Help with Switzerland Itinerary

Switzerland has been all about trying to attract tourists for hundreds of years. They built cog railways up mountains just to generate tourism. Once the market for Swiss guards fell off they had to find something to support the economy…

No part of Switzerland has not been entirely cased by Rick Steves and his ilk. You will not find a “hidden gem” in Switzerland.

Bull. We were just there and were basically the only Americans at every place we went to. We had zero crowds. We don’t do Interlaken or the touristy crap mentioned in Rick Steve’s guide.

Bull yourself. I don’t believe this for a minute. Switzerland is tiny and is well trodden territory.

We were in tiny villages you all haven’t heard of that aren’t touristy. About 30 min from Lucerne. So peaceful. Not a single loud obnoxious American tourist.

Would you mind sharing? I'll be there next month for work and could use some peace and quiet. Thank you!

Sorry. I don’t want it to get spoiled.

If you are in Zurich, take the train out to Adliswil and take the gondola up to the Planetweg trail. You can easily spend half day walking the trail and get your peace and quiet.

But is it touristy?

It is touristy- because it’s gorgeous.
Most gorgeous places are touristy because everyone wants to see it. You could work your way around the calendar a bit, maybe go late August when schools are back in session etc
